After my dad passed, my mom shared some writing she had done over the years regarding her perspectives on life. I want to share a few that are quite meaningful to me.

“If I were to pick 3 things that helped one lead a more satisfying life, they would be volunteer efforts, a forgiving nature and a grateful and appreciative heart. There are other things, of course, but these top the list for me. Not that I have been very successful in any of them. But whenever I feel down, I get a better attitude when I do something for someone else. It helps me survive. It could involve money, but doesn’t have to. It could involve a lot of work, but doesn’t have to. It could be only a smile, a kind word, or some other minimal effort. But thinking of others makes me think less about myself.”
